Now it is a Downtown Garland institution. But five short years ago Main Street Cafe was just starting out.
Tammy Hauck Norvell and her husband (an accomplished chef) took an old store front and transformed it. Taking some of her mom's antiques, practicing super service and crafting a great menu, the place is rarely slow. You will even find live music in the evenings and on the weekend.
Known as the meeting place in Garland, business people, retirees, families and politicians gather regularly to enjoy the menu that includes chicken-fried steak, a variety of salads as well as a Jucy Lucy burger to rival the original in Minnesota.
Housed in one of the oldest buildings in Garland and right on the Downtown Square is The Generator Coffee House. Recently acquired by Nir Sela, the revised venue features a Sunday brunch, extended hours, live music and (soon) beer and wine service.
One of our favorite meeting places in Downtown Garland.
